Pioneers of the Personalised Number Plates Industry.
Founded in 1990 by entrepreneur Steven Terence Jackson OBE DL, New Reg has been at the forefront of the personalised number plates industry for over three decades. Starting from a modest garage business, Steve Jackson transformed New Reg into a market leader through innovation and a commitment to excellence.
A Digital Revolution
In 1996, New Reg made history by launching one of the earliest ecommerce websites, becoming the first personalised number plate dealer in the World to operate online. This pioneering step revolutionised the way personalised registrations were bought and sold, giving the public unprecedented access to millions of combinations, including previously unissued government stock and private plates owned by traders and individuals.
Our innovative approach not only set industry standards but also paved the way for other dealers and the DVLA to establish their online presence in subsequent years. We exclusively collaborated with Autotrader.co.uk in their early days, helping to establish their personalised number plate market online.
Recognised Excellence
Our contributions to the industry have been widely recognised. In the late 1990s, New Reg was featured on BBC's Top Gear as a pioneer of automotive excellence and an early adopter of internet technology. This acknowledgment highlighted our role in shaping the industry and our commitment to staying ahead of the curve.
